When founding partners Buddy Kirk and Bill Palmer founded Kirk & Palmer, P.A., in 1992, they committed themselves to excellence and integrity in the practice of law and to providing the highest level of legal service.
While Buddy concentrated his practice in all aspects of commercial real estate, Bill focused primarily on business transactions and estate planning.
In 1995, Richard Thigpen joined the firm as a partner, concentrating on providing business and tax advice to closely held businesses. It was at this time, the partners changed the name of the firm to Kirk Palmer & Thigpen, P.A.
Richard left the firm in 1997 to become the general counsel of the Carolina Panthers NFL team, succeeding his father, Dick Thigpen. In turn, Dick joined the firm, where he remained in practice until his retirement in 2005. Richard re-joined the firm in 2018.
Today, Kirk Palmer & Thigpen is comprised of 18 attorneys who continue to provide the highest level of legal counsel and client service among more than 12 commercial and business practices.

In Tribute
Bill Palmer, a trusted lawyer, mentor, and advisor to many clients and friends, served faithfully at KPT for 27 years. Bill retired from the firm in September 2018 to focus his energy on battling cancer until he passed away on July 21, 2019.
