Phillip Lewis is a highly experienced civil litigator whose practice consists of representing parties in a broad spectrum of complex legal disputes. His litigation practice includes civil rights, real estate and title litigation, and community-association matters. Phillip also has a significant depth of experience in appellate matters. He is licensed to appear in all state and federal courts in North Carolina, all state courts in South Carolina, and has been admitted pro hac vice in federal courts in Georgia and Florida.
Prior to joining Kirk Palmer Thigpen, Phillip was a litigator with the law firm Pfeiffer Rudolf in Charlotte. While at Pfeiffer Rudolf, Phillip was a member of a civil-rights litigation team that focused on wrongful convictions. He was instrumental in bringing about multi-million-dollar settlements for clients such as Charles Ray Finch (wrongfully imprisoned 43 years) and Terry Talley (wrongfully imprisoned 40 years). Before joining Pfeiffer Rudolf, Phillip handled litigation matters for Horack, Talley, Pharr & Lowndes, P.A.
Phillip is a member of the board of directors of the Thomas Wolfe Society. He previously served on the board of directors for Actor’s Theater of Charlotte and completed a three-year stint on the board for the Humane Society of Charlotte. Prior to that, Phillip was a member of the exhibits committee for the Catawba Science Center and volunteered at the Hickory Community Theatre. His novel The Barrowfields was published to international acclaim and was subsequently translated into several languages.
